Publisher’s Note: When Dennis Bushnell began his Opening Night talk at FiRe this year, there was an immediate, almost palpable sense of something like affection for him among the audience. I believe this was the result of his obvious and sincere personal concern for the future of the planet and our species, and of a near-instant recognition of both his intelligence and his experience in addressing these issues.
Part list, part deep dives, and part suggestions for business-based solutions to the world’s largest problems, his rapid-fire run through of what we face, and how to face it, was both impressive and helpful.
At his close, he received perhaps the longest standing ovation we’ve seen at FiRe over our 17 years, and for that reason alone, I have no doubt that our broader membership will both appreciate and enjoy this transcript of his talk. – mra
