WHERE’S MARK?
—
This issue is dedicated to new friend and SNS member Carver Mead, who has been ahead on chips since the day he started.
My view on the importance of chips:
- There is only one contest for world domination, and it is between China and the free world.
- There is only one war, and it is economic.
- There is only one battlefield, and it is technology.
- There are only two technologies that matter, and they are AI and chips.
- The future of chips lies in AI.
We could stop there and be done.
But I’m writing on this subject today because just last week it occurred to me that I, along with the rest of the world, have been doing some lazy thinking about where chip manufacturing and design – one of the two drivers in the global economy – were headed.
We have all been just assuming that the future would be some version of the past – always a dangerous, and almost always a wrong, assumption.
In this week’s discussion, we’ll get out of the propaganda and history ruts and move forward to where chips are really going in the next three to five years, always the toughest window to address.
